Yesterday was the deadline for legislators to file bills. While not all of the bills have been entered into the Legislature's computer system, a good number of them have. While we're still waiting on the anticipated legislation aimed at taking control of PERS away from the current PERS board and freezing the Cost of Living Adjustment, one bill has been released that would undermine PERS altogether. Rep. Brad Mayo (R - Oxford), Rep. Chris Brown (R - Aberdeen), and Rep. Jason White (R - Kosciusko) have authored HB 468, which would allow current and new employees to "opt-out" of the PERS system. Such a bill is designed to undermine the long term sustainability of PERS.We can't allow the Legislature to pass this bill. Call or email your representatives today and tell them to vote "no" on HB 488. Let them know that we are watching, and that we are going to Keep Them Honest!View HB 488 here:
